In Memoriam:

Finally, sad news to report. New York City restaurants are mourning the loss of chef and restaurateur James Kent who died unexpectedly at the age of 45. The Michelin-starred chef trained at Le Cordon Bleu and worked at Babbo and Eleven Madison Park, before serving as Executive Chef at Saga in the Financial District where he helped create a food dynasty.

Saga Hospitality Group, which operates Crown Shy, Saga and Overstory, issued this statement: “We are heartbroken to share that James Kent passed away unexpectedly,” adding, “The Saga Hospitality Group family is focused on supporting each other and most importantly Kelly, Gavin and Avery as we grieve James’ loss.”

Tributes were left by chefs Daniel Humm, Daniel Boulud, Sumaiya Bangee, Yuu Shimano, David Bouley, among others. Rest in Peace.
