NYC's Li-Lac Chocolates to Celebrate Its 100th Birthday Where it All Began in the West Village

Li-Lac Chocolates, a New York City icon, is turning 100 and to celebrate the shop is hosting a party at its West Village location at 75 Greenwich Avenue (corner of 11th St) on Oct 21.
Li-Lac Chocolates is the city’s oldest chocolate house established in 1923 and is among a small group of centennial brands in New York City. The grand celebration with include chocolate giveaways, free chocolate samplings, music, entertainment and other great offers throughout the day. The event will be held from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and will include the following 1923 centennial specials:
- Vintage Recipe Gift Box: valued at $100, will be sold for $19.23 for the first 300 customers
- 1923 Pricing on 5 Original Recipe Items: sold in-store for $0.25 each, which includes Almond Bark, Butter Crunch, Plain Fudge, Pecan Chews and Mousse Rolls. Limit 1 piece per customer
Other Birthday Specials include:
- Free ½ lb. French Assortment Gift Box for the first 100 people in line
- 20% off everything in the store
- In-store social media collaboration with customers who repost a Li-Lac photo will receive a free treat at checkout
Also to celebrate its centennial, Li-Lac Chocolates is releasing a hardcover book Timeless Traditions: A Centennial History of Li-Lac Chocolates.
Li-Lac Chocolates was founded by George Demetrious, who studied his craft in Paris before opening his first shop in 1923 at 120 Christopher Street in Greenwich Village. It has survived The Great Depression, six wars, 17 presidents and counting, and a pandemic. The current owners, Anthony Cirone, Chris Taylor, and Anwar Khoder operate six locations along with a chocolate-making factory at Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn where, if you're lucky, you can watch the sweet treats being made.
