Pizza Fun House (63 W 8th St, on 6th Ave) in Greenwich Village is a vibrant new spot by the folks at Serafine with a retro design offering American-style pies that are also sold by slice.
This new, casual restaurant is a retro celebration, deeply inspired by Serafina co-founders Fabio Granato and Vittorio Assaf’s love of American pop-culture from their childhood memories growing up in Italy. Brightly colored geometric Googie-style interiors are the background to the American menu, with a focus on the classic American Pizza style, elevated with Serafina's pioneering pre-fermented dough, along with nostalgic Americana pastas, heroes, salads, and more.
The menu also pays homage to the classic 50’s and 60’s “Happy Days” style diner dishes including a series of Hot Plates—Eggplant Parm, Chicken Parm, and Meatball Parm—all served with a side of Spaghetti Marinara. There are also several housemade pastas, including Italian American classics like Meat Lasagna and Penne Vodka, as well as Hero sandwiches like Sausage + Peppers and a Chicken Roll. Smaller menu items include Garlic Knots and Wings in a variety of sauces, as well as the iconic staples Caesar and Greek salads with the option to add chicken.
Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy several dessert items, including an ice cream Sunday, Banana Splits, and, of course, Canolis. There are also multiple milkshake flavors, including Black + White, inspired by the iconic New York cookie, Vanilla Sky, Strawberry Field Forever, Bananarama, and Salted Caramel. Beverages at Pizza Fun House will include a range of sodas as well as several options to choose from of beer and wine.
Fabio Granato worked closely with designer Julius Babilonia to create a space that is both retro and contemporary, bringing a modern interpretation of Googie architecture with a bright 60s style ombre of yellow, orange, red, and brown graphics that cover the walls, and a pattern of layered structural boomerang shapes.
Situated in the bustling heart of Greenwich Village, Serafina says Pizza Fun House is a love letter to American and Italian pizza culture, where guests can gather to enjoy elevated classics in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
***For the official opening on May 2, 2024, Pizza Fun House (63 W 8th St, on the corner of 6th Ave) will be giving away 500 free slices of pizza from 1pm until supplies run out.***
