Sutton Foster, Ana Gasteyer, Michael Urie Set for Broadway’s Once Upon a Mattress

Principal casting has been announced for the Broadway revival of the 1959 musical “Once Upon a Mattress,” which will play The Hudson Theatre (141 W 44th Street) from July 31 through November 30. The production will be directed by Lear deBessonet.
The cast will feature Sutton Foster as Winnifred, Michael Urie as Prince Dauntless. Brooks Ashmanskas as The Wizard, Daniel Breaker as The Jester, Will Chase as Sir Harry, Nikki Renée Daniels as Lady Larken, David Patrick Kelly as King Sextimus, and Ana Gasteyer as Queen Aggravain.
An uproarious update of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Princess and the Pea,” the musical is set in a repressed kingdom where Winnifred the Woebegone charms, delights, and dances her way to the top.
The show features music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer, and a book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer, which has been adapted by Emmy Award winner Amy Sherman-Palladino.
