What’s Old Is Delicious Again at NYC’s Forgotten Food Festival
March 26, 2025, 3:58.17 pm ET
Take a nostalgic culinary journey with 65 lost dishes and reimagined classics at 14 NYC restaurants.
From March 28 through April 6, Chef Driven Hospitality is bringing back dishes that time forgot with the debut of the Forgotten Food Festival. Spanning 14 restaurants across New York City, the 10-day festival will feature 65 unique dishes, each inspired by the personal histories and culinary roots of the group’s chefs.
The festival is a celebration of storied recipes—some passed down from great-grandmothers, others drawn from chefs' early culinary experiences or travels. Diners can expect everything from 1970s American comfort food to long-lost French classics and micro-ethnic dishes from Israel.
In addition to the food, Beverage Director Aviram Turgeman has curated a menu of “forgotten cocktails” and rare wines, including an updated Apple Martini and a historic Sazerac served with cognac.
Festival Highlights Include:
Barbounia
Chef Amitzur Mor offers a menu inspired by the diverse ethnic communities of his Israeli neighborhood:
• Yemenite Beef Soup with oxtail, calf’s feet, and hilbeh
• Spicy North African Veal Brain Stew (Moch Mcharmel)
• Persian Faloodeh Shirazi, a rice noodle and rose water dessert
