Silver Moon Bakery

Cititour Review:For some of the best pastry on the Upper West Side, Silver Moon Bakery is the place to be. Silver Moon turns out American classics like muffins and cookies, French favorites like brioche and croissants, and even Bavarian pretzels and challah, with lines out the door for their delicious Parisian-style macarons and palmiers.
One of the first artisan bakeries in the neighborhood, since 2000, partners Georgia Stamoulis and Paris-trained Judith Norell have been crafting baked goods for locals and impregnating the air around their shop near Columbia with the smells of freshly baked breads and cakes. Seating is therefore often limited, and while you may encounter a long line, it tends to move quickly, and orders can be called in advance.
Holidays bring special baked goods: from honey-lemon cake for Rosh Hashana, pan de muertos for Dia de los Muertos, homemade pies for Thanksgiving and three varieties of award-winning Buche de Noël at Christmas. There is something new – and authentic – nearly all year long at Silver Moon. Sandwiches are also available, though they don't shine quite as brightly as the incredible variety of delicious sweet baked goods and artisan breads.
