Iconic restaurants like Tao, Philippe Chow and Koi have been impressing New Yorkers with their buzzy, over-the-top venues for years. Now, diners can add 53 to the list. This new Asian-inspired restaurant by the Altamarea Group is a hidden gem in Midtown. The glitzy space with domed ceiling and minimalist bar and golden fixtures is a true showstopper.
The menu, by acclaimed Singapore-born Chef Akmal Anuar, features dishes like Duck Pie Tee with chipotle mayo and cilantro, Crispy Wonton with shrimp and sweet chili, and a Lobster Spring Roll. Larger plates bring King Prawn with sumac and black pepper, Diver Scallop with xo sauce, and Lobster Fried Rice. Cocktails come with names like the Singapore Slip and Electric Eels.
We would have loved to show you an image of the space, but our request was denied.
53 is located at 53 West 53rd St, New York, NY
