It is called taste56, a new wine store and interactive tasting room run by a group of sommeliers and hospitality professionals that collectively offer decades of experience. The highly designed wine store has custom, floor-to-ceiling white oak wine shelves, with one wall displaying the 56 wines currently featured in guided, complimentary tastings.

Designed to be a digital-first wine store, taste56’s proprietary Digital Somm guides online shopping, with same day pickup and delivery available throughout New York City. In the coming weeks, bar56, taste56’s sister restaurant and wine bar, will open next door. When shopping, guests create an online profile that records purchases, tastings and ratings. As ratings are completed, taste56’s proprietary algorithm, the ‘Digital Somm’ recommends new wines based on guests’ personal preferences.

The shop is located in a landmark building dating back to 1892 revealing exposed beams and sleet stone used to build the Brooklyn Bridge. The tasting room features two elegant marble tables for tastings, lounge chairs by FYRN, a handmade glass chandelier by OCHRE and vibrant Turkish handmade rugs.
