Alyssa Milano to Join Broadway’s Chicago
August 14, 2024, 9:46.59 am ET
TV star Alyssa Milano will play the role of Roxie Hart in the hit Broadway musical “Chicago” at the Ambassador Theatre from September 16 to November 10.
The Tony Award-winning show tells the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer in the 1920s, who murders her lover. She then dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer, Billy Flynn, to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines.
“When I was 8 and first joined the national touring company for “Annie,” I never could have imagined the 40+ year career ahead of me,” Milano said in a press statement. “To finally be making my Broadway debut in the role of Roxie Hart in this iconic musical and to stand on the shoulders of such honorable lineage is all that a little girl who loved to sing and dance and make people smile could have ever dreamt of.”
Milano is best known for her starring roles in the TV series “Who’s the Boss?” and “Charmed.” Her other credits include the series “Mistresses” and “Insatiable.”
The production, which is directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking, features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse and music by John Kander and lyrics by Ebb.
