Around Town - More Oktoberfest, Reopenings and new Black Tap shake

Oktoberfest is on at the Biergarten at The Standard Hotel in the Meatpacking District with vaccine card. Enjoy some German beers, brats and oversized pretzels with a fun crowd.

Black Tap is celebrating fall with its Classic Pumpkin Spice Shake. It’s topped with whipped cream, pumpkin pie spice and a cherry. The shake sells for ten bucks and is available through Oct 31 at Black Tap’s Midtown and SoHo locations.

Miyoko’s Creamery is previewing its groundbreaking vegan mozzarella. You can sample it at a series of pop-ups throughout Manhattan during the month of October.

More reopenings to report. Bobby Vans steakhouse has reopened in Times Square after a couple of false starts during the pandemic.

John’s Pizzeria has a “Welcome Back Broadway” sign on its door.

Dining Al Fresco at the Crossroads of the World? Applebee’s now has outdoor dining at its 42nd Street location in the heart of Times Square.

Also in Times Square, this giant mural of a woman marks the spot of the soon-to-be-completed RIU Hotel on West 48th St.

If you pass by the Port Authority you may notice a new exhibition called The Wash, a series or portholes with images of straw and other plastic waste aimed at bringing attention to threats facing our oceans and waterways.
