At the Moynihan Train Hall, new food places are starting to open up. Magnolia Bakery now has a shiny new space with tempting cupcakes and other desserts on full display.

On the other side of the main hall, Starbucks has opened a large counter for hot & cold drinks along with snacks. Burger Joint, Davey’s Ice Cream, Sauce Pizzeria, Jacob’s Pickles and Maman Kitchen are among restaurants slated to open this fall in a grand food hall.

We stopped by Coney Island for the July 4th holiday. The fireworks show was spectacular. So were the funnel cakes being sold from a stand steps away from the boardwalk.

Ruby’s Bar & Grill was jamming. We couldn’t resist some fried clams, crab cake sandwiches and an authentic corn dog. Icy Coronas seemed to be the drink of choice at the bar where the juke box was belting out Tom Jones’ 70s hit “She’s a Lady.”

In the Meatpacking District, The Gansevroot Hotel is getting a major facelift with new restaurants, including an open-air café called Coffee & Cocktails that promises to whisk you away to the cobblestone streets of Paris. There's also a pop-omakase by Kissaki.

Two dive have managed to survive the pandemic. Blarney Stone (410 8th Ave), near Madison Square Garden, still has its green neon sign lit up. It’s the place to go if you’re in the mood for a Miller Lite and maybe some Blarney Wings or Irish Bacon.

Not too far away on 29th and Ninth Ave, the “world famous” Billy Mark’s West has returned. A few months ago the place was covered with graffiti and looked like a goner. But it’s cleaned up nicely with a fresh coat of paint. It’s got an all-day, all-night Beer + Shot special going. There’s also a pool table in the back room.

In Times Square, a giant electronic billboard has shot up for Space Jam, A New Legacy, set to debut on July 16th. It’s nice to see that movies are back with the bulk of Broadway set to come back in the fall.

Until next time, we’ll be seeing you Around Town!
