National Oxtail Day is coming up (Yes, there is such a thing) on January 26th and one New York City restaurant is taking it very seriously. Chef Shorn Benjamin’s Fat Fowl at Dekalb Market in Brooklyn has been turning heads with his Oxtail Grilled Cheese sandwich. It’s ooey, gooey deliciousness and the perfect comfort food for a cold winter’s day.

Speaking of food combos… Chef Ayesha Nurdjaja (Shukette, Shuka) + Fini Pizza are teaming up this weekend with fun bagel combo. Available Sat/Jan 20 + Sun/Jan 21 at Fini Williamsburg, chef Ayesha will offer two exclusive bagels to start your morning off a Shakshuka bagel with soft scramble, halloumi, feta, caramelized onions, cilantro + shakshuka sauce for dipping, and the Everything bagel with sumac cured Arctic char, dill creme fraiche, potato chips, fennel and pickled chili. For those looking for a more leisurely option, Fini will be hosting a bagel brunch party in their backroom ($60pp) on Saturday from 9:00am-12:00pm.

Highball, the stylish new restaurant at Times Square’s Tempo by Hilton is launch a new prix-fixe menu just in time for Broadway Week. At $70 per person, the menu features choices such as Burrata with roasted pear and caramelized kumquat, Hanger Steak with artichoke and blistered tomatoes, with a New York Cheesecake finish. Hotel guests can also take advantage of exclusive deals on Broadway shows with discounts of up to 40% this winter.

The Seaport will be hosting a Lion Dance celebration on February 17 in honor of Lunar New Year. The celebration will begin ay 1pm as we usher in the Year of the Dragon. RSVP recommended.

The Dead Rabbit kicks off 2024 in NYC with a lineup of exciting events, from familiar favorites to new areas of exploration within modern Irish culture. The launch of a new culinary series on Feb 4, Tradition, Meet Tomorrow, is curated by renowned Irish chef Mark Moriarty. The annual Irish Coffee Day event had now morphed into a weeklong celebration.

Going up! The construction firm Skanska has been awarded a contract by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to replace 21 existing escalators throughout New York City subway system. Shanska says it will improve the subway travel experience for millions of commuters.

These are the escalators being worked on:

- 51st Street Station: replace one escalator with new staircase

- Park Place Station: two new escalators

- High Street Station: one new escalator

- Franklin Avenue Station: one new escalator

- Lexington Ave/63rd Street Station: 10 new escalators

- 21st Street/Queensbridge Station: six new escalators
