Asal Yemen brings coffee and honey together in Brooklyn
February 19, 2021, 6:44.01 pm ET
Asal Yemen on 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn is a unique spot for Yemeni coffee and pastries with a spacious dining area equipped with cafe seating. On the coffee side look for specialty lattes with honey and flavors like cardamom, ginger and saffron. Pastries include assorted cupcakes, cheesecake and honey buns. Don’t pass up on the pressed cookies, called Mamool, that are filled with dates and nuts. The ones we tried were truly exceptional. The shop is also roasting its own coffee and sells four different types of honey - Sedr, Mountain, Somer and Almarai - some of which offer nutritional and therapeutic properties.
