The Team at Endless Hospitality (The Wayland, Goodnight Sonny, The Wild Son, Pop's Eat Rite) is launching Bar Lula in the former Wild Son space at the corner of St Marks Place and First Avenue in the Village.
The cocktail bar and restaurant draws its inspiration from the culinary traditions of France and Mexico. Executive chef Luigi Petrocelli and chef Ricardo Arias are combining their knowledge of French technique with their love of Mexican food to create new and vibrant dishes meant for sharing. They include beef tartare with salsa macha, peanuts and cucumber; mussels escabeche with saffron and crispy tortilla; marinated beets with sesame, cumin, and cotija; and red snapper aguachile. Main dishes include succulent braised lamb showered with sliced onion, cilantro, and jalapeno; and whole fish accompanied by manila clams and gigante beans in a spicy broth.
Beverage Director Julio Xoxocotla is offering an adventurous agave-forward cocktail program and one of the city’s most ambitious mezcal collections. Julio previously worked at Ward III, The Rum House, and Bouley (Test kitchen and Botanicals) before joining the Endless Hospitality team. His passion for agave distillates and Mexican spirits is a driving force behind the creation of Bar Lula.
The space has new look since Wild Son moved next door. There’s a full bar, table seating, fresh artwork and lots of bottles of mezcal on display.
Bar Lula is located at 132 First Ave, New York, NY
