Fathom Events is screening “Waitress: The Musical,” a filmed version of a stage performance of the Tony-nominated Broadway show. Due to the box office success, the run of the movie is now through December 21.

Directed by Brett Sullivan and with a script by Jessie Nelson, the film stars the show’s composer-lyricist Sara Bareilles, in an extraordinary performance, as Jenna Hunterson, a waitress and expert pie maker stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. Through the support of her fellow waitresses and an unexpected romance, Jenna begins to find the courage to take a long-abandoned dream off the shelf. Waitress celebrates the power of friendship, dreams, the family we choose and the beauty of a well-baked pie.

The score includes the hit song “She Used to Be Mine,” along with “What Baking Can Do,” “Opening Up,” and “You Matter to Me.”

In addition to Bareilles, the production stars Charity Angél Dawson, Caitlin Houlahan, Drew Gehling, Dakin Matthews, Eric Anderson, Christopher Fitzgerald and Joe Tippett (Bareilles’ real-life partner).
