Cadence, an acclaimed plant-based restaurant by Ravi DeRossi’s Overthrow Hospitality, has relocated to a larger space at 111 East 7th Street in the East Village. The move triples Cadence’s guest capacity to 80 and provides a more prominent stage for the culinary ingenuity of Chef Shenarri Freeman, a 2022 James Beard Award nominee for Emerging Chef.
Chef Shenarri is reprising her beloved menu, including Southern Fried Lasagna, Smoked Grits and Buffalo Oyster Mushroom, and will be adding new dishes over time. While the new location does not have an open kitchen, Chef Shenarri and her team will interact with each guest by also serving their dishes.
In addition to other beverages, Cadence will serve cocktails created by Master Mixologist Sother Teague, who is working closely with Chef Shenarri on low-ABV cocktails, all powered by aromatized, fortified and apéritif wines, including sherry, vermouth, Pineau de Charentes and pommeau. The cocktails, which are named for legendary black female performers, include Knight Empress, LaBelle Peche, Franklin Green, and Mahalia’s Gospel.
