Charlie Palmer Steak replaces Aureole in Times Square

Aureole in Times Square is now Charlie Palmer Steak. Named after Chef Charlie Palmer, the steakhouse is serving top-notch steaks and chops from small producers around the world. Unlike other steakhouse that are usually dimly lit, this space is bright and cheery with a full bar and spacious dining room right on New York's iconic 42nd Street.

Start with a selection of East Coast Oysters, Gulf Shrimp Cocktail or maybe a Prime Seafood Platter stacked high with oysters, clams, cran, shrimp, mussels and lobster (Regular $70 and Grand $105). Ahi Tartare, Steakhouse Wedge with blue cheese dressing, and Onion Soup Gratin are also counted among the starters. For a lighter meal, there is a Grilled Chicken Club, Steakhouse Burger and Grilled Filet served on a crisp baguette with caramelized onions, mushrooms and sauce Diane.

Larger plates bring Steak Frites, a Prime Dry Aged Porterhouse for two, New York Strip and a Wagyu A5 Miyazaki Striploin, which is one of the most expensive cuts on the menu. Seafood, including a Grilled Stuffed Lobster, is also represented strongly.

Charlie Palmer Steak appears more approachable than Aureole, with several different price points, including a 3-course Prix Fixe Dinner for $45 which should appeal to locals as well as theatre goers once Broadway reopens.

Charlie Palmer Steak is located at 135 West 42nd St, New York, NY (212) 319-1660 website
