Kuma Hospitality Group's (l'abeille, Sushi Ichimura) is set to open, l'abeille à côté - Michelin starred l'abeille’s casual sibling restaurant serving a playful version of chef Mitsunobu Nagae's elegant French-Japanese fare, on August 9 in Tribeca.
The 20-seat moody space seamlessly mirrors its sister restaurant, l'abeille (including direct access through a discreet hallway) through its elegant design with an open kitchen, brass touches, velvet textures, darker tones and white quartzite stone with black veining.
An exposed wine room featuring approximately 300 bottles of adventurous and classic selections from around the world pair well with shareable bites like K.yung's F.ried C.hicken (an ode to l'abeille's exec. sous chef Kyung Lee) and Iberico Jamon Serrano with grilled eggplant ice cream to main courses like Wagyu Beef Teriyaki Burger and for dessert, one of chef Mitsu’s hometown favorites: soufflé cheesecake with cherry ice cream from Osaka, Japan.
