Chicago’s iconic Lula Cafe will be making some of its most loved dishes available in NYC for the first time as part of a special pop-up taking place on Friday, October 20th from 12pm to 4pm at Altro Paradiso [234 Spring Street].

The pop-up celebrates the release of The Lula Cafe Cookbook — chef and owner Jason Hammel’s first chronicle of the restaurant’s more than 20 year journey from a scrappy cafe to one of the country’s most awarded establishments, as told through recipes and essays.

Dishes from Lula Cafe that will be featured at Altro Paradiso include: Littleneck clams with sorrel almond pesto and an anchovy soffritto broth; Pappardelle with walnut bolognese; and Parisian gnocchi with mini lamb meatballs in a soubise sauce

Reservations can be made via Resy.

In addition to the pop-up at Altro Paradiso, Jason Hammel will be joined by host of This American Life Ira Glass in a conversation about the restaurant and cookbook at Greenlight Bookstore [686 Fulton Street] on October 19th at 7:30pm. Event details are here.
