Mr. Capri (33 West 8th St, NYC), the breezy West Village restaurant, inspired by the idyllic Italian island of Capri, is also well known for its cocktails named after landmarks on the island. One such landmark is Villa Malaparte. Built in the 1930s, it is considered one of the premier examples of Italian modern and contemporary architecture. The building which sits atop a cliff is just as eye-catching as is the cocktail name in its honor.

Award-winning mixologist Cristina Bina, originally from Florence, is known for infusing vegetables, herbs and other exciting ingredients into her cocktails. The “Villa Malaparte” is a mix of Mezcal Joven, fresh beet juice, crème de cassis, lemon juice, and spicy bitters. The vibrant red cocktail is topped with a lemon peel and a dusting of spices.

While there you may also want to indulge in some of Mr Capri’s fabulous Italian cuisine like prosciutto with crispy pan-fried burrata, fresh tagliatelle with Capri-style rabbit ragu, and grilled swordfish with orange sauce. For Winter Restaurant Week 2023, the restaurant is offering a 3-course, prix-fixe meal for $60 Monday thru Friday, and $45 on Sunday. For more information, visit mrcapri.com
