The concourse at Rockefeller Center is usually a dead zone after 6pm when most restaurants are closed. Enter The Tipsy Baker which is trying to change all of that. Bakery by day and bar by night, it remains open until 11pm on weekdays with plans to extend that to weekends.
The space is quite beautiful with a marble bar as its centerpiece with cozy tables surrounding it. Light jazz music plays in the background making it a perfect spot for a romantic meal in the heart of what is a tourist mecca.

The menu begins with small bites. Think Roasted Peppers in a raspberry vinegar sauce, Wellfleet Oysters with tomato gelee, Charred Carrots drizzled with orange oil, and Whipped Hummus with Calabrian chillies for sharing.
Larger plates bring Seared Blue Shrimp with a romesco and garlic, Turkey Schnitzel with red pearl onions and beurre blanc, Ricotta Gnudi with summer squash and Crispy Pork Belly with braised piquillo peppers and baby fennel.

For the moment only wine, beer and ciders are offered with spirits expected to make an appearance down the road. With good food and lovely atmosphere, The Tipsy Baker is tipping in its favor!
