As the city gets back on its feet after the pandemic, CITITOUR will be taking you not only to new restaurants, but also well-established ones, that are part of the fabric of New York City. One restaurant that fits that bill is Chef Michael Lomonaco’s Porter House Bar and Grill at Columbus Circle.
The restaurant is truly an amazing space with beamed ceilings, stylish chandeliers, plush grey booths and white tablecloths. It’s the kind of place to celebrate a special dinner out, power lunch or a bite at the bar. Not to mention, there are spectacular views overlooking Central Park. It is a true New York experience.
Chef Lomonaco has spent his career celebrating what he calls the "bounty of the American table' whether it was at ‘21,’ Windows on the World, and Guastavino’s before opening Porter House in 2006. At Porter House it is all about the seasonal ingredients, whether it’s the menu or the cocktails.

The meal begins with a plate of ice cold East Coast oysters or jumbo shrimp cocktail – the giant U8 variety served with a vodka cocktail sauce. Jumbo lump crab cakes with pickled shallots and horseradish-mustard sauce are also served along with steakhouse favorites like slab bacon and roasted bone marrow in peppercorn sauce.
Executive Chef Michael Ammirati’s menu is a meat lover’s dream come true whether it’s an Aged Prime Beef Burger or Skirt Steak Frites alongside Roasted Lancaster Chicken and Heritage Berkshire Pork Chop with vinegar peppers, broccoli rabe and pine nuts. Steaks (including American Wagyu) run the gamut from a 28-day dry-aged Porterhouse for two or three to a New York Strip served on or off the bone. A Chili-Rubbed Rib Eye is on the menu as well as a Cowboy Rib Steak with garlic confit and wild arugula. All steaks are offered with a choice of XO Cognac, peppercorn, chimichurri or béarnaise sauce.
From the sea comes Butter Poached Lobster with truffle potato puree, and Eastern Swordfish with summer squash & tomato with Niçoise vinaigrette. Diners can also choose from a collection of pasta and risotto offerings.
Classic steakhouse sides include buttermilk onion rings, buttery mashed Yucon Golds, honey-thyme roasted carrots and fresh leaf spinach with garlic and oil. Save room for dessert, which include a 7-layer South Carolina Coconut Cake with toasted coconut icing or a slice of New York cheesecake with berries.
A stop at the Porter House Bar offers classic cocktails like the Paloma, New York Sour, Penicillin, and Hemingway Daiquiri. Signature drinks include Fernet About It! with Michter’s Rye, Fernet Branca, Pineapple, Lemon and Honey; and Old Fa-Shinn-Ed with Shinn Estate Apple Brandy, Sauternes and Bitters.
Porter House is located at Time Warner Center at 10 Columbus Circle, New York, NY (212) 823-9500
