Dominique Ansel’s Cronut Turns 9 Years Old

The Cronut is turns 9 years old this week. Created by Chef Dominique Ansel, the cross between a doughnut and croissant became an instant food sensation, with Ansel’s bakery shop drawing long lines that still exist, to some extent, to this day.
The first Cronut created was Rose Vanilla which was made as a Mother’s Day treat. Since then, there have been numerous flavors, including most recently a Lychee & Marscarpone variety seen here.
