Dr Fauci suggests theatres could be safe to open next Fall
January 11, 2021, 12:02.55 am ET
Dr Anthony Fauci says Broadway theatres could be safe to open "some time in the Fall," according to the New York Times. Fauci is quoted as saying it all hinges on the rollout of the vaccines. He also suggests theatregoers may still have to wear masks for some time.
It might be too late for some shows. Producers of the popular Broadway show "Mean Girls" say it will not be returning when theaters are allowed to reopen in New York City, according to AP. The Disney musical "Frozen" has also decided not to reopen.
The Broadway League says the earliest Broadway could reopen would be late May of this year.
