The true test of a good vegan burger, at least from the standpoint of a meat eater, is that you can’t tell it’s a vegan burger. Fat Boy’s Vegan Burgers on Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights passes that test with flying colors. The burgers are made with a 60/40 blend of Impossible and Beyond Meat with signature spices added. The single and double stacked burgers are served with Violife Cheddar on top and choice of sides. We opted for the lettuce, tomato and jammy grilled red onions on top. The result was quite tasty.
There’s also a chopped cheese on a potato bun and a Chick’n Sammy with Garlic Aioli served on a Kaiser roll that was quickly devoured. A fresh batch of seasoned “Fatty” tots served nice and crispy went perfectly with the Wu Sauce (sriracha, agave, red pepper and parsley). Let’s just say they’re worth fighting for!
