First Look Inside Fushimi’s Mega Restaurant in Times Square

Buzzy Japanese restaurant Fushimi known for its flashy locations and fusion cuisine has landed in the in the heart of Times Square at 311 West 43rd Street. The sprawling restaurants includes several dining spaces separated by ornate screens

As you enter, your eye is immediate drawn a narrow passageway with bright red columns with Japanese text. Enter further and a massive rattan fish appears to be floating seamlessly over a lounge area. At a nearby bar, an image of woman resembling a geisha is surrounded by origami swans.

Cocktails come with names like the Samurai, a mix of Nikka Gin, muddled blue berry, lemon juice & simple syrup; Bora Be with Soju, Lychee Schnapps, lychee puree, lychee juice, lemon juice, and butterfly pea; and Kami Hikoki made with Four Roses Bourbon, Aperol, Milleti Amaro, and lemon juice. Sake, Japanese Whisky, champagne, wine and beer are also offered.

The inventive menu includes an assortment of Robata Skewers such as Lamb Chop with black truffle, Maine Lobster with parsley lime and butter, and Octopus with scallion, togarashi, and pickled cucumbers. From the sushi bar comes assorted rolls, nigari and sashimi ranging from pristine blue fin tuna belly to red snapper, spot shrimp, yellowtail and sea urchin. Other options include Pekin Duck Salad, Chicken Katsu, Roasted Scottish Salmon and a 35-day Dry Aged Tomahawk for two.

Fushimi also operates restaurants in Staten Island, Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and Williamsburg. This is its first entry into Manhattan where it is bound to make a splash!
