Mexi is now open in Williamsburg at 149 North 9th Street. The restaurant, from the folks behind The Bedford and Macchina, call it a celebration of Mexican culture and cuisine with contemporary twists on the classics.

Executive chef Zenaido Hernandez is adding an elevated touch to everything from Mole to Corn Tortillas that are made in-house with attention to detail.

Dishes range from a refreshing Tuna Serrano Aguachile with fresh tuna marinated in a cucumber-lime broth, mixed with herbs and vegetables along with Pork Shoulder Al Pastor taco skewers served in a grilled pineapple so guests can build the perfect bite.

Also making an appearance - Masa ‘Gnocchi,’ - marrying classic Italian with Oaxacan flavors. It is served with yellow mole, roasted and crudo mushrooms, with a sesame chili crunch. Visitors will also find Birria Cauliflower Steak Tacos with black beluga caviar lentil and cilantro lime crema. For dessert, there's Popover Churros served with dulce de leche and Mexican chili chocolate sauce.

Cocktails also tell a story of Mexico with each drink inspired by a cultural event, icon or landscapes that make up its rich culture. They include Mexi in the City, a take on a Cosmopolitan made with rum, beets grenadine, sage, lime, agave nectar with a prosecco top; Sergio Leone with tequila, amaro, thyme, chile de arbol syrup, lime juice, agave and egg whites; and Wrong Decision wit vodka, aloe liquor, basil, cucumber, poblano pepper syrup and lime. There's also a large selection of Mecican cervezas.

Located in a former garage, the space with exposed beams has been converted into a Mexican courtyard with a balcony overlooking the main dining room. A large skylight beaming in a ton of natural light.
