Say it ain’t so, Joe! Joey Chestnut is out of this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on the 4th of July. Chestnut, who has won the contest 16 times, ran into trouble after reportedly inking a deal with a vegan rival to Nathan franks.
Major League Eating issuing this statement on X: “We are devastated to learn Joey Chestnut has chosen to represent a rival brand that sells plant-based hot dogs rather than competing in the 2024 Nathan’s Famous Fouth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest.”
The statement goes on to say, Chestnut prioritized the new partnership over his long-time relationship with Nathan's Famous.
