Long Island City BID to Celebrate Community’s Diversity with United Holiday Tree, Menorah, and Street Lighting Ceremony

The Long Island City Business Improvement District (LIC BID) will host its 6th annual LIC Lights Up event, including a Holiday Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Vernon Mall. The event serves as the neighborhood’s official kick off to the holiday season featuring a ceremonial illumination of holiday streetlights, live musical performances by award-winning local talent, community leaders, elected officials and more. Complimentary treats and hot chocolate will be provided by woman & minority-owned business Little Chef Little Café. Attendees are encouraged to bring items for donation to support The Floating Hospital's 14th annual Candy Cane Lane Holiday Drive, which supplies items for homeless families.

In the spirit of unity, this year’s event is presented in collaboration with Hunters Point CDC and Chocolate Factory Theater, combining separate holiday events held by the organizations to bring the community together for one spectacular celebration that highlights the neighborhood’s diversity. There will be appearances from the Children’s choir from SING LIC, Religious Leaders, and Santa Claus himself. The event is being held at the Vernon Mall, Thursday, December 7, 2023, 4:45-6:00pm.
