Dame, the popular British restaurant that got is start as a pop-up before landing a full fledged restaurant, is at it again with the opening of Lord's in Greenwich Village. The space is quite large with candlelit tables to one side and a full bar on the other. When we stopped by on day two (a Tuesday) the place was brimming with activity. Tables can be booked in advance, but the bar area is reserved for walk-ins.
The menu is full throttle Brit with starters like Curried Lamb Scotch Egg, Pig’s Head Terrine & Piccalilli, and Oysters Kilpatrick. Larger plates bring Deviled Crab on Toast, Steamed Clams with Black Pudding & Cider, and Cured Trout with Celeriac & Dill. Dig deeper and there is Duck Stuffed Cabbage and Sirloin Steak with Chips. They are also offering a "Pie of the Day." On this day it was Chicken, Pig’s Trotter and Leek. Desserts bring Brown Bread and Marmalade Ice Cream and Queen of Puddings, among others.
Visitors will also an interesting selection of beers and ciders like Half Acre Pony Pilsner, Green King Old Speckled Hen English Ale and Guinness Stout. Cocktails include the Blackcurrent & Concord Grape Spritz, Bartlett Pear Manhattan and Hemingway Daiquiri. After dinner spirits are also offered.
Lord's is located at 506 LaGuardia Place, New York, NY (929) 398-5433
