The Long Island City Partnership has unveiled a new dog-inspired public art installation by local Queens artists at Rafferty Triangle in Long Island City. On display until November 1, 2023, the new public art installation features various items including a large fire hydrant, a dog-shaped park bench, and a large collar.
There are also two music boxes which are covered in original designs by local artists Ashley Betito and Kerri Boccard. The music boxes will play original songs from Queens musicians including the Broadway Junior team from Community School 111 and Argentinian jazz musician Yanko Valdes.
As one of the highest neighborhoods with dogs per capita in New York City, Long Island City features a diverse variety of dog-friendly amenities, parks, and experiences, including the LIC Dog Park on Vernon Boulevard, and dog runs at Gantry Plaza Park, Hunter’s Point South Park, and Hunter’s Point Community Park.
