Nowadays Launches This Weekend – What You Can Expect

Just in time for the warmer weather, Nowadays, the indoor/outdoor gathering space in Ridgewood, Queens is launching this weekend with full slate of cultural programs, dance parties, community gatherings and more. Offerings include:

Saturday, May 14 is the Saturday Backyard Barbecue with Diner by Izakaya [the team behind Dr. Clark + The Izakaya] grilling up wagyu burgers, bbq chicken, hotdogs + house-made veggie burgers.

On Saturday, May 28: Nowadays launches Family Dance Brooklyn, a family-friendly dance party hosted by DJ Ali Coleman, beloved NYC DJ & father. Family Dance will take place every Saturday from 12-4pm and will offer a range of engaging activities for all ages including dance contests, face painting, arts and crafts, etc.

On Tuesday, June 7: Nowadays presents its long-running outdoor film series with weekly Tuesday Film Screenings. Focused primarily on music, the series presents films with audio run through Nowadays' custom outdoor sound system. The series opening date is Prince's birthday, and to honor him, there'll be a screening of Purple Rain. Doors open at 4pm and films start at sundown, no reservations required.

Nowadays also hosts Wednesday Night Community Programming with dynamic and engaging panels and classes. Highlights include a comedy night centering QPOC, a conversation about sobriety and substance use in nightlife, and an introduction to music journalism.

Happy Hour: Nowadays offers one of the most generous happy hours in the city: 2-for-1 special on all cocktails and natural wines as well as select draft beers. Happy hour is available every Mon-Thurs, from 4pm-8pm.
