While the weather is cooperating we've been getting our fill of outdoor dining. One spot we visited recently was Laut Singapura in Flatiron where we enjoyed a wonderful candlelit meal from very accomodating hosts. Here are some of the things we tried.

We started with Mango Kerabu, a sour mango salad with onions, cucumber, red onion, and chili-dusted peanuts served with a pungent Thai dressing.

Chicken Satay stands above the rest with charred chicken skewers and a thick coating of zesty peanut sauce and lots of crushed peanuts on top. It's served with sliced cucumber.

Roti Prata is another dish meant for sharing. This Flipped Indian pancake is light and airy. Tear a piece off and plunge it into the this spicy vegetarian curry dip with chunks of melt-in-your-mouth potatoes.

Among the noodle offerings is Egg Wrap Pad Thai. Beneath the egg wrapping are luscious noodles with chives, bean sprouts, and radish with choice of protein, in this case shrimp.

Nasi Lemak is a perfect meal with beef rendang, shrimps in sambal chili sauce, fried egg, and crispy anchovies. It's served with coconut rice, cucumber and a chilled vegetable stew. Also check out the banana leaf bowls.

Nyona Curry makes for comforting entree. Eggplant, okra, onion and tomato are prepared in a spicy coconut milk broth with choice of protein, in this case chicken.

Thai inspired cocktails and beverages are also available like "Happy Soda" made with rose syrup, condensed milk and sparkling soda.
We've only just cracked the surface of this mesmerizing menu at Laut Singaopura and recommend exploring other options while helping New York City restaurants survive the pandemic. Outdoor dining, takeout and delivery are available.
