Visitors to Ayat NYC (8504 3rd Avenue) in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn will find an array of Palestinian street foods on full display. The open-air restaurant features assorted kebabs (beef, lamb, and chicken), as well as shawarma, falafel and kefta sandwiches on house-made bread. Middle Eastern dips like Muhammara made with roasted red peppers, walnuts and pomegranate molasses are perfect for sharing along with tabbouleh salad, and kousa mahshi, squashed stuffed with rice, tomato, parsley, onion and spices. Larger plates of lamb chops, BBQ chicken and ribeye are served with rice, hummus and babaghanoush. Portions here are large and the food is quite tasty, perfect for a Palestinian feast. The centerpiece of the restaurant is an oversized mural of a woman in a traditional hijab shedding a tear with a peace sign above.
