Started as a pizza pop-up inside The Bedford during the pandemic as a means to get by, Macchina has grown into a full-fledged restaurant. The team behind Roebling Sporting Club and The Bedford have also tapped Dianne Lowry ( The Aviary, Sweet Liberty) to head up the beverage program.

Sharable plates and pizzas are all made with sharable ingredients. The pizzas are cooked in a stone ovem sourced from Tuscany. They include pies such as Chicken Parm Pizza with chicken cutlet, mozzarella, parmesan & marinara; Marinated Cherry Tomato with fior di latte, pecorino & basil; Shrimp Scampi Pizza with Florida Gulf shrimp, mozzarella, garlic, lemon zest & chili flakes; and Prosciutto Di Parma with fresh mozzarella, ricotta, arugula, parmigiano, & extra virgin olive oil.

Cocktails emphasizes flavors found in Italian aperitifs and spirits. Herbaceous drinks include Apple + Fennel Tonic with Gin, Torino Vermouth, Fino Sherry, Green Apple, Honey, Fennel, and Tonic; Blood Orange Boulevardier with Bourbon, Sweet Vermouth, Campari, Blood Orange, and Cacao; and Chai Espresso Martini with Chai, Coffee Liqueur, Vodka, and Coconut Cream.

Housed in an old fan factory, the space features many of the original interior and design elements including the flooring, tin ceiling, and pulley track beams. The 12-seat bar features a custom-made bar top with a massive 50 foot beam spanning the entire lengtrh, custom milled shelving and a vintage library ladder.

The restaurant also has plans to show classic, black & white Italian films—think Filini’s greatest hits like La Dolce Vita and Nights of Cabiria.

Macchina is located at 110 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249
