Print by Artist Zoya Cherkassky to Raise Money for People of Ukraine
March 21, 2022, 9:02.48 am ET
Given the pressing nature of the conflict abroad, Fort Gansevoort will produce a limited edition of 100 prints with Ukrainian-born artist Zoya Cherkassky.
To express our support for Zoya Cherkassky, the people of Ukraine, and all those affected by the current conflict, a percentage of the proceeds of the sale of each print will be donated to the Ukrainian Red Cross via the International Committee of the Red Cross. Funds raised will go towards supplying food, water, and other essential items to areas in need, as well as providing emergency support to hospitals and primary healthcare facilities.
In the print, a mother is seen clutching her child as they witness Russian tanks rolling through the snow as buildings in the background go up in smoke. Inflected with a blazing color palette of orange, red and yellow, the immediacy of Cherkassky’s image captures the atmosphere of destruction and uncertainty that presently plagues Ukraine.
Cherkassky, who was born in Kyiv, grew up in the Soviet Union, before immigrating to Israel in 1991.
