On the corner of 25th Street and Broadway, signage is now up for Tortazo, a new fast-casual Mexican restaurant by chef Rick Bayless. Inspired by the vibrant foods and culture of Mexico, Tortazo will be offering tortas (sandwiches), bowls, salads, desserts and beverages, incuding margaritas and beer. Among the tortas is slow-cooked achiote-braised pork, pickled red onions, black bean spread and a side of fiery roasted habanero salsa.
Rick Baylees is a 7-time James Beard award winning chef and considered an expert on Mexican cuisine in America. Tortazo, which already operates in Chicago at the Willis Tower, is slated to make its New York City debut this September.
Tortazo NoMad is located at 1123 North Broadway, New York, NY.
