Restaurant Radar - Venchi to open in former Grom space on Bleecker St
July 29, 2021, 12:24.42 am ET
The blight is almost over. Venchi, the premiere chocolate and gelato shop, is taking over the former Grom space at the corner of Bleecker and Carmine St. Grom, which also sold Italian-style gelato, had a good run but over the last year or so, the empty shop had become an eyesore, covered with graffiti.
The sign out front reads simply that Venchi will be opening soon. If it's anything like Venchi's Union Square location, visitors can expect silky gelato in all sorts of wonderful flavors, and chocolate-making that dates back 140 years to Turin, Italy. There may also be some surprises. Maybe a chocolate fountain? Stay tuned.
