Saying Goodbye to Christmas as Mulchfest Gets Underway in NYC

New York City’s Mulchfest is underway. The annual event will run from Jan 26, 2023 to Jan 7, 2024. The goal is top the 58,300 trees that were turned into wood chips and mulch last year. The main event will be held on so-called “Chipping Weekend” on Jan 6 and Jan 7 where you can chip your tree and be handed a bag of mulch to use in your backyard or make a winter bed for a tree on your block. Trees must be free of any lights and ornaments. People can also volunteer to help spread mulch across the city.
