Shaun Hergatt’s Ren Opens in Brooklyn

World-renowned Michelin-starred chef Shaun Hergatt’s new restaurant, REN, has opened in Brooklyn (1571 McDonald Avenue).
Designed by Studio GAIA, REN features a grand dining room that seats 120 people with high ceilings, beautiful rugs and comfortable seats. The attractive bronze bar, where all tools and accessories are custom made, seats eight, and there is a private dining room with glass walls with a wooden rectangle table that seats 10 overlooking the restaurant.
The seasonally driven menu showcases the finest and freshest ingredients, and
evolves with the seasons for an ever-changing experience. Current highlights include Veal Carpaccio with big eye tuna, caper berries and parsley; Chilled Diver Scallop with cucumber and citrus oil, topped with caviar; Handmade Gnocchi with squid ink, parmesan cream and truffle; Maine Lobster, grilled with saffron risotto, chives and crystal lettuce; Black Bass with sweet corn and haricot verts; Organic Chicken with orzo and piquillo; Wagyu Beef Striploin with torpedo shallot, sunchoke puree and rosemary butter; and Australian Lamb with potato puree, chile, parsley, and black olives.
Dessert options includes such sweet treats as Millefeuille with crème pâtissière; Basque Style Cheesecake with preserved cherries; and Tiramisu, made with ladyfingers and aged madeira. Meanwhile, REN’s extensive wine list is by master sommelier Erik Westmab and features over 200 unique bottles.
