Side Trips: Head Upstate for Independence Day Feasts

Searching for a place that welcomes the whole family, the entire friend group and (especially!) the dogs? Guests can stroll through the 210-acre family-and dog-friendly property and enjoy a range of natural hard ciders from Brooklyn Cider House along with wood-fired pizza, burgers and Texas-style BBQ by the scenic pond — accompanied by free live music on Saturdays.

To celebrate Independence Day, Twin Star Orchards is throwing their famous Pig Roast on July 6 (tickets). Guests can enjoy platters of delicious slow-cooked whole pork with homemade coleslaw and Hawaiian buns al fresco, all pairing perfectly with their natural hard ciders. Clock Tower Grill in Brewster, NY (90 minutes from NYC) in Hudson Valley is a dining destination that celebrates the best of local ingredients.
