TONY AWARDS ANNOUNCE SPECIAL RECIPIENTS

The Tony Awards Administration Committee has announced the recipients of this year’s additional special awards and honors.

Actress Julie Halston will receive the Isabelle Stevenson Award for her charitable work with the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation; Tony Award nominated director and choreographer Graciela Daniele will be the 2020 recipient of the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre; and the 2020 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre will four outstanding contributors to the Broadway industry: Fred Gallo, President of PRG Scenic Technologies; Broadway press agent Irene Gandy; stage manager Beverly Jenkins and the New Federal Theatre and its founder, Woodie King, Jr.

As previously reported, the 2019-2020 Tony Awards will be presented as part of a special four-hour event entitled, “The Tony Awards Present: Broadway’s Back!” on Sunday, September 26. The evening will kick-off with the presentation of majority of the American Theatre Wing’s 74th Annual Tony Awards at 7pm, which will stream live exclusively on the Paramount+ network.

Immediately following that presentation, from 9pm-11pm, CBS will air a one-of-a-kind live concert event, featuring superstar Broadway entertainers and Tony Award winners re-uniting on stage to perform beloved classics and celebrate the joy and magic of live theatre.
