New Yorkers lined up in the early-morning chill this past Saturday to get their hands on a limited batch of what some are calling “the best vegan donuts on Earth.” The scene? A sugary pop-up collab between cult-favorite Cloudy Donuts Co. and the viral croissant kings at L’Appartement 4F in Brooklyn Heights.

But that was just a taste.

With permanent locations at 14 Columbia Place in Brooklyn Heights and 209 Mott Street in Nolita, Cloudy Donuts Co. has quietly become one of the city’s most buzzed-about bakeries — and not just for its sweets. The Black-owned, 100% vegan patisserie has carved out a lane all its own, serving pillowy, cloud-soft donuts that look like art and taste like magic.

They unleashed a trio of cloud-like creations at L’Appartment 4F that had locals and foodies buzzing by 8 a.m.: Balsamic Fig, Crème Brûlée, and Berry Olive Oil, along with a cream-filled rose donut — fully vegan, fully fabulous, and gone in a flash.

Founder Derrick Faulcon and partner Zewiditu Jewel aren't just building a bakery, they’re crafting a boutique donut experience. Cloudy rolls deep with over 50 rotating options like Salted Caramel Whiskey, Peanut Butter Cookie, Cookie Monster, and S’mores, plus cult faves like their Brown Butter Chocolate Chip, apple pie cinnamon rolls and sweet potato pound cake — all handcrafted and small-batched for max impact.

Donuts come in two sizes (mini for $4, large for $6), while cinnamon rolls and pound cakes clock in at $8 — a small price to pay for baked goods that regularly sell out and have tourists and locals alike chasing the next drop.

So if you missed the L’Appartement 4F collab, don’t worry — just follow the sugar trail to Brooklyn Heights or Nolita. At Cloudy Donuts Co., the forecast is always delicious. - Cititour Staff
