August 31, 2023, 5:25.18 pm ET
The Paris Cafe, in the historic Seaport District, is marking its 150th Anniversary this September. Established in 1873, The Paris Cafe (119 South Street), is one of New York City’s oldest brasseries. It closed during Hurricane Sandy and againbduring the pandemic. It was revived by Drink & Enjoy Crew Founder, Chris Reda, (310 Bowery, Common Ground and Little Charli) along with the team from the White Horse Tavern and Hunt + Fish Club.
The restaurant is paying homage to the luminaries who visited the establishment since the turn of the century, such as Thomas Edison, Teddy Roosevelt, Lauren Bacall, Annie Oakley to Buffalo Bill Cody, Butch Cassidy, Jimmy Hoffa and the Sundance Kid, among others. To celebrate, the restaurant is offering a monthlong prix fixe menu for $150 per person.
The menu begins with amuse-bouche with first course options such as Tuna Tartare and Fried Oysters. Larger plates include a New York Strip, Seared Salmon and Mushroom Pappardelle. For dessert there is the choice of Drunk Pear or Affogato.
In addition, Paris Cafe will be hosting a retro happy hour taking patrons back to 1873 with snacks for $1.50 along with Era Cocktails such as the 1923 French 75, the 1943 Daiquiri and more. There will also be a 150 Anniversary Magic & Cocktail Show with a full dining experience and mentalist. Reservations via resy.com
