The Broadway musical “The Phantom of the Opera” will end its run at the Majestic Theatre on February 18, 2023, after over 35 years of continuous performances.
Based on the classic novel by Gaston Leroux, the show tells the story of an opera singer in Paris, Christine Daae, who ends up capturing the attention of the Phantom, a masked figure who wants to help Christine attain stardom – at all costs.
The show features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), and book by Richard Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber.
Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman headlined the show’s original Broadway cast. Since then, such actors as Howard McGillin, Hugh Panaro and Norm Lewis have played the Phantom, while the late Rebecca Luker and Sierra Boggess have been among the actresses who played Christine.
