Truffle Season Kicks into High Gear in New York City

Carlotto in Union Square hicks off Truffle Fest on Wednesday, November 1st, through the end of the month. All month long, guests have the chance to enjoy truffle dishes which are available a la carte.

They include: Crispy Potato "Millefoglie" with Burgundy truffle, parmigiano (above); Uovo di Anatra with white truffle, sunny-side-up duck egg, crispy pancetta and sage; Beef Carpaccio with Burgundy truffle, truffle aioli, pecorino al tartufo, pickled mushrooms; Risotto Mantecato with white truffle, aged acquerello carnaroli rice, 24 mo "white gold" parmigiano Reggiano; Tagliatelle Burro e Parmigiano 'Francescana' with white truffle, 40 yolk tagilatelle, beurre de baratte (below); and White Truffle Profiterole with craquelin choux pastry, white truffle ice cream.

Additionally, Chef Andy Kitko is also planning a special one-night-only tasting menu featuring White Truffles on November 9th. Each course will feature shaved white truffles, along with wine pairing. Dishes include Zuppa di Aragosta - lobster bisque with roasted salsify, carmelized fennel; Raviolo "all'uovo" - free form ravioli, coddled farm egg, porcini ragu, parmesan emulsion; Brasato al Barolo - beef short ribs braised in barolo, white truffle fonduta; and more. $350 per person. Rampoldi New York, from the team behind Casa Limone and Atlantic Grill, which debuted near Lincoln Center in September is also offering several elevated truffle dishes. Chef Antonio Salvatore’s menu celebrates the flavors of Southern Italy and the French Riviera. This truffle season, Rampoldi will be serving select dishes topped with white truffles including oeufs a plat, boeuf carpaccio, housemade tagliolini with parmesan and butter, mozzerella cream, sole à la Meunière and more. At Alice, a sophisticated Italian restaurant in the heart of the West Village, Chef/Partner Ricardo Orfino is offering truffle-filled prix-fixe menu Sundays-Tuesdays beginning November 5th and running throughout the rest of the truffle season. The menu includes appetizer options of truffle arancini with white truffle mayonnaise, whipped ricotta toast with truffle honey, and hamachi crudo with sunchoke and black truffle pearl, mains such as pappardelle with winter truffle (white truffle option) and grilled branzino served with artichoke, mushroom tartufata and winter truffle (white truffle option), and a dessert of Fior di Latte gelato topped with shaved winter truffle. The dinners are $120 per person (with an option for a +$40 wine pairing) and can be booked on Resy
