YAO is introducing a new seven-course tasting menu called Jia Yan which refers to “a celebratory family gathering.” The menu is an evolution of the beloved dishes cultivated by Executive Chef-Owner Kenny Leung and Co-Owner Thomas Tang at their modern Chinese restaurant August Gatherings (266 Canal St) alson with new dishes developed at Yao, their new Cantonese spot.

Jia Yan menu includes dishes such as Deep Fried Hokkaido Scallop topped with Jalapeño; Shikoku Bamboo Shrimp Dumpling placed in a golden broth, finished with shaved black truffle; Alaskan King Crab Wensi Tofu Soup served in a broth made of chicken, ham and pork bone; Grilled Angus Short Rib drizzled tableside in a pear and oyster sauce; and Longevity Noodles (imported from Hong Kong) with Wild Octopus and infused with a salted fish special sauce.
