Nestled in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, Yingtao is a sultry space with black marble bar as you enter with gold accents. Jet black banquettes set the tone for table seating with bright red lights symbolizing cherry blossoms and new beginnings.
Yingtao, which means “cherry” in Chinese, is named after the owner’s late grandmother who worked as a makeup artist for the Chinese opera. It’s also a nod to Chinese and Chinese American women who have made a last contribution to the workplace and in the home.
Located on 9th Avenue and 53rd Street, Yingtao combines grandma’s cooking with global culinary techniques. Menu highlights include Foie Gras with Sichuan peppercorn; Gamba Roja, featuring Haidai, cured Mediterranean red prawn inspired by the flavors of the Sichuan classic, Kou Shui Ji; and Pipa Duck, crispier than its sibling, Peking Duck, it is served with quince, radicchios and a pepitas-crusted pumpkin roll. The meal is capped off with Cherry Blossom champagne and Pear with Chinese almonds.

The eight-course tasting menu costs $165 per person with a la cart dining available at the bar. While walk-ins are welcome, reservations are recommended. For more information, visit yingtaonyc.com
