The Tyger by Chinese Tuxedo team roars into SoHo

Opening a new restaurant in the middle of a pandemic might dissuade some folks, but not the team behind Chinese Tuxedo on Doyers Street. Instead, Eddie Buckingham and partners are adding some electricity to the air at The Tyger, at the intersection of Howard St and Centre St in SoHo.

The restaurant is already taking the neighborhood by storm with three separate outdoor dining areas, along with ample space inside once the city approves indoor dining at the end of the month. The menu is centered on the flavors of East Asia with dishes found in Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and beyond.

THE FULTON OPENS FOR OUTDOOR DINING AT THE SEAPORT

Start with some snacks like Bahn Xeo, a crispy tumeric and coconut crepe with roasted pumpkin and pickled papaya ($14) and Miang Kham made with betel leaf. ocean trout roe, grapefruit and toasted coconut with a sticky tamarind sauce ($15). Oysters with a red chili dressing are also available along with traditional chacoal-broiled Chicken Satay with peanut sauce.

Plates for sharing range from Steak Tartare with lemongrass, crab crackers and a chili & lime dressing ($21) to Phnom Pehn Fried Chicken with a lime and white pepper sauce ($14). Noodle and rice dishes include Crispy Squid Ink Fried Rice ($22), Singaporean Chili Crab Fried Rice ($25) and House Made Egg Noodles with oyster mushrooms, katsuobushi and lemon ($22). Larger plates bring BBQ Red Shrimp with green papaya salad ($27), slow-cooked Beef Short Ribs with house baked potato buns ($38) and Halibut Steamed in Banana Leaf with jungle curry and aromatic herbs ($42).

FARM-TO-BAR COCKTAIL CAFE OPENS ON THE UPPER EAST SIDE

The siganture drink - The Tyger - is equipped with black and orange stripes. It's a frosty combination of Volcan Cristalino, mango, peach cardamon, smoke and other ingredients.
