New York City’s Five Boroughs Music Festival continues its 2024-25 season with the debut of the Ivalas Quartet on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sugar Hill Museum of Art & Storytelling in Upper Manhattan. The Ivalas Quartet is an ensemble dedicated to the celebration of the voices of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. The program, entitled Fate and Yearning, features works by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, and NYC-based Black American composer Alvin Singleton.

Just in time for the San Gennaro Festival, iconic burger joint Black Tap is launching the San Gennaro Cannoli CrazyShake®! throughout September. The limited-time concoction captures the essence of the Italian festival with a playful twist on the classic cannoli. It’s a mix of creamy vanilla ice cream, rich cannoli cream and crunchy crushed cannoli shells, and a cannoli frosted rim topped with a cannoli, whipped cream, chocolate chips, powdered sugar, and a cherry. The $20 shake is available at both Black Tap locations in SoHo (529 Broome Street) and W 35th Street locations.

It's back! The Cyclone Roller Coaster has reopened after a brief closing for maintenance. Lunar Park, which operates the cyclone, issuing a statement saying the heart-pounding thrills and 60mph speeds will continue for generations to come. “We are incredibly honored to preserve the legacy of the Coney Island Cyclone roller coaster and offer memorable experiences on this historic coaster, year after year. This American icon has captivated guests for nearly a century, and our dedicated team and attraction engineers continue to ensure that this legendary 97-year-old landmark continues to operate safely and smoothly,” said Alessandro Zamperla, President and CEO of Central Amusement International, Inc. “We are always thrilled to welcome riders to experience the Cyclone every season.”

Acclaimed South Korean artist Lee Bul (born 1964, Yeongju; based in Seoul) has transformed the iconic niches of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Fifth Avenue façade. The suite of four new works, called Long Tail Halo, challenges what sculptures can reveal about our times. The sculptures will remain on display through May 27, 2025.
